Newton (°N) Conversions
The Newton scale is a temperature scale that sets a fixed zero point equal to the freezing point water. The scale uses both arithmetic progression and geometric progression. The scale defines 18 reference points and the corresponding "degrees of heat" and geometric progressions.
History
The Newton scale is a temperature scale named for its creator, Sir Isaac Newton, and was created to measure degrees of heat at the beginning of the 18th century. The scale was most likely created out of necessity as his work at the time with identifying the boiling points of metals was a likely inspiration.
